The goal of the Zeus Compton Calaway Save the Animals Fund is to provide many animals a second chance through lifesaving treatments at the college’s Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. Because Zeus was such a beloved family member, the Calaways wanted to ensure that other large breed dogs would have access to extensive diagnostic treatments and the best veterinary medical care if the need arose. Responsible stewardship of the Fund’s resources is vital to its long-term success, and some eligibility criteria have been established: The Fund is available to owners of large breed dogs with a treatable disease or injury. The fund may contribute up to 50% of the total cost, with a maximum of $500 per case.
