Dr. Claudia L. Barton

Dr. Claudia L. Barton is a Professor in the Department of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Texas A&M University. She attended the University of Missouri for her undergraduate and veterinary education. After two years of private practice in Cincinnati, Ohio, she came to Texas A&M University in the Department of Veterinary Pathology to do a clinical pathology residency. She then taught at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital for several years, in small animal oncology/internal medicine, and returned to Texas A&M University in 1979 as a staff oncologist. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in the specialties of Oncology and Internal Medicine and currently is the Medicine Residency Director. She had received both College-level and University-level teaching awards from the Association of Former Students at Texas A&M. Dr. Barton's major interest and expertise is in diagnostic cytology of tumors in animals.

 

Dr. Kenita S. Rogers

Dr. Kenita S. Rogers is a Professor in the Department of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Texas A&M University. She received a B.S. Degree in Animal and Veterinary Science from West Virginia University in 1979 and her DVM. degree from Louisiana State University in 1982. After completing a one year rotating internship at the University of Georgia, Dr. Rogers spent three years in an internal medicine residency and received her M.S. from Texas A&M University in 1986. She is an ACVIM Diplomate in the specialties of Internal Medicine (1987) and Oncology (1990), and currently serves as Chief of the Medicine Service. She received the Norden Distinguished Teaching Award, and has twice been honored with The Association of Former Students Distinguished Teaching Award.

 

Dr. Heather M. Wilson

Dr. Heather M. Wilson is a professor in the Department of Small Animal Medicine at Texas A&M University. She completed her undergraduate and veterinary education at the University of Tennessee in 2003. She then completed a small animal rotating internship at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center and a residency in Medical Oncology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in the specialty of Oncology. She received the E. Gregory Mac Ewen award for Outstanding Basic Science Research in the field of Oncology from the Veterinary Cancer Society in 2006. Her research and clinical interests include cancer stem cells, osteosarcoma and transitional cell carcinoma.

 

Dr. Zachary Wright

Dr. Zachary Wright is from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame. He graduated from Texas A&M Unversity's College of Veterinarian medicine and completed a rotating small animal internship at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. He is now in his third year of his medical oncology residency. Dr. Wright's research interests include new diagnostic testing for transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder, pain management for the cancer patient, and radiation oncology.

 

Diane Green

Diane Green has provided technical support for the Oncology Service since 1997. Diane is a registered Veterinary Technician and received an Associate degree in Applied Arts and Science in 1983 from Cedar Valley College in Lancaster Texas. Immediately prior to joining the team in Oncology, she worked in the Intensive Care Unit at Texas A&M University, providing care to critically ill small animal patients. Diane came to Texas A&M after working for 13 years in an emergency clinic and a private practice in the Dallas area.  She helps supervise patient care for the Oncology Service,  and has special expertise in the administration of chemotherapy and radiation therapy, anesthesia, and minor diagnostic procedures including bone marrow examinations and collection of biopsies and laboratory specimens. In addition, she provides continuity with client communications and actively participates in the teaching of technical skills to senior veterinary students.

 

Krystal Schneider

Krystal Schneider has provided technical support for the oncology service since 2005. Krystal is a registered veterinary technician and received an Associate in Applied Science in 1997 from State University of New York at Delhi. After graduation she worked at a small animal private practice in upstate New York for four years. Krystal moved to Texas in 2000 and spent three years working in both small and large animal private practices. Immediately prior to joing the team in Oncology, Krystal worked in the Anesthesia Department at Texas A&M University providing anesthesia support for both large and small animals. She has special expertise in anesthesia, chemotherapy administration and radiation therapy. She assists with patient care, client communication and actively participates in the teaching of technical skills to the senior veterinary students.
