Neurology Service

The Neurology Service at Texas A&M University sees approximately 650 dogs and cats a year with a wide array of diseases including intervertebral disk herniation, central nervous system inflammation, tumors, trauma, and malformations.  The service is supported by 3 senior faculty members (one board certified neurologist and two board certified surgeons), residents, interns, and a complement of fourth year veterinary students.  Other services, such as internal medicine, radiology, anesthesia, oncology, and emergency/critical care lend their expertise to our patient care.  We have access to an on-site 1.0 Tesla MRI, helical CT scanner, digital radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasonic aspirator, 2 electrophysiology units, and various other diagnostic modalities.
The service faculty are committed to providing cutting edge care and believe that clinical research and clinical trials are an important way of achieving this goal.  We currently have collaborative clinical research relationships with faculty at the University of California-San Francisco Medical School, Texas A&M University Medical School, Scott and White Clinics, Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, and University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.  Research funding has come from the National Institutes of Health, private grants, and intramural resources.  If you are interested in seeing a list of our current clinical trials, please click here.
