Internship and Residency Program

RESIDENCY AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS

Postgraduate training programs are offered by this department. Firstly, we offer a 12-month rotating internship in veterinary small animal clinical sciences. This program is designed for veterinarians who have graduated recently. Secondly, we offer 3-year residencies in medicine and surgery. These are intended for veterinarians who have completed a formal rotating internship or its equivalent.

In order to be considered for an internship or residency at our university, our state examining board requires that your veterinary school be AVMA accredited or that you have passed either the ECFVG or PAVE exams.  If this is the case, then your application will be welcomed.

All of these positions are filled on a competitive basis, through the national computer matching program administered by the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians.  All program information will be available to potential applicants through the Veterinary Internship and Residency Match Program (VIRMP) website.  The large Matching Program Directory will no longer be printed nor distributed.  The AAVC will provide a written document of applicant instructions, list of program titles and their respective institutions to individuals who request information about the VIRMP.  You may contact the AAVC at 37 West Broad Street, Suite 480, Columbus, OH 43215, phone number (614) 228-6599, Fax number (614) 228-1216.  A web site about the matching program is found as follows: http://www.virmp.org All successful applicants must provide documents that establish identity and employment eligibility.

Successfully matched non-US applicants must be a permanent resident or must obtain a J1 or H1 visa in order to work in the United States.
