The Departments of Small Animal Clinical Sciences and Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University, invite applications for a faculty position as a tenure-track assistant, associate, or full professor. Rank will be dependent on the individual’s qualifications. The successful candidate must be a veterinarian with specialty training and board certification or board eligibility in Radiation Oncology (American College of Veterinary Radiology). Additional board certification or board eligibility in Medical Oncology (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine) is desirable, and preference will be given to candidates with credentials in both specialties. Applicants must be eligible for a regular or special license to practice veterinary medicine in Texas.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will provide instruction and patient care in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital for a substantial portion of his or her time; for most faculty members, this is about 50%. Teaching responsibilities will include didactic, laboratory, and clinical training of professional veterinary students, interns, and residents. Clinical responsibilities will be in Small Animal Oncology and Radiation Therapy; radiation therapy will include both small animal and large animal cases. Plans for a Veterinary Imaging and Cancer Treatment Center to be located at the College are being finalized, with construction to begin in 2010. Because the College anticipates acquiring tomotherapy intensity-modulated radiation therapy, candidates with an interest in tomotherapy will be strongly considered. Scholarly productivity including research and publication will be expected. The successful candidate will join a team of approximately 40 faculty members and 20 interns and residents in Small Animal Clinical Sciences and 38 faculty members and 8 interns and residents in Large Animal Clinical Sciences.
For individuals applying for this position who have the appropriate credentials and who wish to have a more extensive commitment to research, the College has recently received an endowment of $1 million for a Chair in Comparative Oncology. Interest from this endowment will be available for support of this endowed program, which may be in Medical or Radiation Oncology.
