TEXAS STATE BOARD OF VETERINARY MEDICAL EXAMINERS LICENSING & EXAMINATION DIVISION

Foreign applicants must be able to obtain a license in Texas (see below).  Applicants also responsible for obtaining appropriate visa to begin employment on required date.

Foreign applicants must have received a degree from one of the following AVMA Accredited Schools:

  1. State University of Utrecht, NETHERLANDS

  2. The Royal Veterinary College, University of London - Must be a graduate after 10/29/98.

  3. University of Glasgow, SCOTLAND - Must be a graduate after 05/26/99.

  4. The University of Edinburgh, Royal School of Veterinary Studies, SCOTLAND - Must be a graduate after 05/12/01.

  5. Massey University, College of Sciences, NEW ZEALAND - Must be a graduate after 09/29/01.

  6. Murdoch University, Division of Veterinary & Biomedical Sciences Murdoch, WESTERN AUSTRALIA - Must be a graduate after 10/16/02.

  7. 4 Veterinary Schools in Canada:

    1. University of Guelph - Ontario

    2. University of Prince Edward Island - Prince Edward Island

    3. University de Montreal - Quebec

    4. University of Saskatchewan - Saskatchewan

Or have Certification from one of the following:

  1. ECFVG (AVMA) - Educational commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates - http://www.toefl.org

  2. PAVE (AAVSB) - Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education - http://www.aavsb.org

Exception: Must be Board certified or Board eligible and the Dean must verify essential to Texas A&M University ("meet a critical staffing need").  (This would only be used in hiring a senior faculty member.)
