TEXAS STATE BOARD OF VETERINARY MEDICAL EXAMINERS LICENSING & EXAMINATION DIVISION 

Foreign applicants must be able to obtain a license in Texas (see below).  Applicants also responsible for obtaining appropriate visa to begin employment on required date.

Foreign applicants must have received a degree from one of the following AVMA Accredited Schools:

  1. 3 Veterinary Schools in Australia:
    1. Murdoch University, Division of Veterinary & Biomedical Sciences Murdoch, Western Australia - Must be a graduate after 10/16/02.
    2. The University of Melbourne, Faculty of Veterinary Science - VIC Australia
    3. The University of Sydney, Faculty of Veterinary Science - NSW Australia

  2. 5 Veterinary Schools in Canada:
    1. University of Calgary - Calgary, Alberta
    2. University of Guelph - Ontario
    3. University of Prince Edward Island - Prince Edward Island
    4. University de Montreal - Quebec
    5. University of Saskatchewan - Saskatchewan

  3. 1 Veterinary School in England:
    1. The Royal Veterinary College, University of London - Must be a graduate after 10/29/98.

  4. 1 Veterinary School in Ireland:
    1. University College Dublin, School of Agriculture, Food Science & Veterinary Medicine - Belfield, Dublin 4 Ireland

  5. 1 Veterinary School in Netherlands:
    1. State University of Utrecht, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Netherlands.

  6. 1 Veterinary School in New Zealand:
    1. Massey University, College of Sciences, NEW ZEALAND - Must be a graduate after 09/29/01.

  7. 2 Veterinary Schools in Scotland:
    1. University of Glasgow, SCOTLAND - Must be a graduate after 05/26/99.
    2. The University of Edinburgh, Royal School of Veterinary Studies, SCOTLAND - Must be a graduate after 05/12/01.
Or have Certification from one of the following:
  1. ECFVG (AVMA) - Educational commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates - http://www.toefl.org
  2. PAVE (AAVSB) - Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education - http://www.aavsb.org

Exception: Must be Board certified or Board eligible and the Dean must verify essential to Texas A&M University ("meet a critical staffing need").  (This would only be used in hiring a senior faculty member.)
