About the Community

BRYAN AND COLLEGE STATION (B/CS)
Texas A&M University is located in College Station, Texas. Together with its neighbor city, Bryan, the Bryan/College Station area is a vital community of more than 130,000 people. The community offers many amenities of a metropolitan area in a more relaxed, college-town atmosphere. The cost of living in B/CS is relatively low.

CLIMATE
The climate is conducive to outdoor recreation activities year-round. Nature is an integral part of life in College Station, with over 1,100 acres of beautifully maintained public parks and sports facilities enhancing the city. Recreational activities are plentiful, with numerous golf courses, lush nature trails, challenging bike paths and sports leagues of every kind, including national, state and local tournaments. The community offers a comfortable quality of life without the attendant problems of congested urban areas.

College Station is also one of the safest, most family-friendly places in Texas. The city consistently maintains one of the lowest crime rates in the state, giving peace of mind to residents and business owners.

LOCATION
If there is something you cannot find here, Houston is only an hour and 15-minute drive away. The state capital of Austin, with its renowned live music scene, is less than 2 hours to the west, and the historic Gulf Coast town of Galveston is about 2 hours to the south. The Dallas/FortWorth metroplex and San Antonio are also within easy driving distance (approximately 3 hours).
Geographically, Bryan/College Station lies at the center of a triangle connecting Houston, Dallas, and Austin.

SCHOOLS
One of Texas top 10 school districts, College Station Independent School District was named a "Blue Ribbon School District" by Expansion Management Magazine and Newsweek magazine listed A&M Consolidated High School as one of American's top 100 high schools.

UNIVERSITY ATTRACTIONS
College Station features the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, one the region's most popular tourist attractions with over 690,000 visitors. The University also has a state-of-the art recreational sports complex for student use and a complete schedule of Big 12 Conference collegiate sporting events. A variety of cultural activities, including ballet, classical music, and
jazz are organized by the University.
