The Department intends to educate students to become competitive and capable of enjoying a rewarding career in biomedical research, whether in government, academia, or the private sector. Toward this end, the programs are devised to train students to design experiments or research projects properly, evaluate data critically, analyze and inter- pret research results objectively, and to become proficient in oral and written communication. While the emphasis is on research, students are given enough coursework and teaching experience in macroscopic anatomy, histology, embryology, neuroscience, cell biology, epidemiology or public health to make them employable in the academic positions that require teaching of these subjects.
