The laboratory is focused on understanding fundamental mechanisms associated with successful implantation and establishment of pregnancy. Differentiation of peri-implantation trophoblast and the integrated roles of growth factors, steroid hormones, extracellular matrix proteins, and integrins in mediating conceptus-maternal interactions during implantation are the major areas of emphasis. The current focus of the lab is on the role of the beta transforming growth factors (TGFßs) during implantation.
