SVECCS @ Texas A&M - Small Animal ICU Program

Come experience Texas A&M's brand new Intensive Care Unit in the Small Animal Clinic! The Small Animal ICU Program allows SVECCS members to shadow technicians, students, and faculty in the newly-constructed Small Animal ICU. In addition to observing the cases and procedures in the ICU, members are also welcome to help the ICU staff during their shift if they feel comfortable doing so.

If you sign up for this program, you will be assigned to a 5 hour shift with one other member. You will not be scheduled within two (2) nights of an exam. Shifts run from 7pm-12am Monday through Friday. Weekend shifts are also available on a volunteer basis and run from 1pm-7pm Saturdays and Sundays. Participating students can expect to be scheduled for one shift per month.

New this year! For each Small Animal ICU shift you attend, your name will be entered in a prize drawing sponsored by VECCS at the end of the semester. Be sure go to your scheduled shifts and sign in to increase your chances of winning!

Schedule

Sign up sheets will be posted downstairs on the bulletin board across from the student mailboxes until Friday, January 23, 2004. Please indicate whether you would like zero, one, or two weekend shifts this semester. (Weekend shifts are considered as being Friday through Sunday.)

Shifts will begin Wednesday, January 28, 2004. Schedules will be made available online and across from the student mailboxes after sign-ups are completed this spring.

If you cannot make your assigned shift, please make every effort to find a classmate to take your place. Our Small Animal ICU Liaison is also available to help you find a replacement.
