AAEP Member-Based Study of Recurrent Colic In Horses

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING DATA COLLECTION FORMS

  1. First, read the important definitions (below) that we have chosen for affected and control (unaffected) horses, these will be important as you begin to select horses.

  2. Identify an affected horse. Please complete a form for that horse.

  3. For each affected horse, identify a control horse. Please complete a data form for the control horse 14 days of the case (affected horse) form.

  4. Mailed envelopes contain 2 data collection forms. We would prefer 1 affected horse and 1 control horse from each participating veterinarian; however, we will gladly accept either 2 affected horses or 2 control horses.

  5. When completing data collection forms please consult with the owner or farm manager to obtain accurate information for each horse.

  6. For those participating by mail, enclose the complete folder in the pre-addressed, postage-paid envelope and return to us for analysis of data.

  7. For those using the website, please register here. When your registration is completed, you will be able to login to the survey instrument to complete a survey.
