Welcome to the website of the TAMU Student Chapter of the AAFP

WHAT IS AAFP?

The AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF FELINE PRACTICIONERS (AAFP) is a professional organization of veterinarians who share an interest in providing excellence in the care and treatment of cats. There is a chapter at every veterinary school.

The AAFP seeks to raise the standards of feline medicine and surgery among practicioners by sharing knowledge, rewarding advancement in research, sponsoring continuing education, supporting the American Board of Veterinary Practicioners (ABVP) certification in the Feline Practice category, and encouraging veterinary student interest in feline practice.

Veterinary students can participate under the umbrella of this national organization by joining their student chapter of AAFP at their respective veterinary institutions.

WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN AAFP?

Even if you don’t plan on practicing with felines exclusively, if you plan to be in small animal practice cats will provide a growing number of your clientele base as they have become the nation’s most popular pets! The coordinated activities and speakers are geared to benefit anyone with an interest in learning more about our feline friends.

Wetlabs –  including practice surgery and field trips at least once a semester for “hands on” experience, activities vary
