Complete medical evaluations were performed on 53 prosimian primates.  Six species were examined from Mantadia National Park in the eastern mid-altitude forest.  These include Avahi laniger, Hapalemur g. griseus, Indri indri, Lepilemur mustelinus, Propitecus d. diadema, and Varecia v. variegate.  Two species, lemur catta and Propithecus v. verreauxi, were studied from Tsimanampetsotsa National Park in the southern spiny forest region.  Necessary samples were collected to perform a complete blood count, serum biochemical profile, viral serology, serum fat soluble vitamins, serum trace mineral analysis, fecal bacterial culture, and parasite examination.
