The Degree of Master of Science

The Master of Science (MS) curriculum is designed to develop new understanding and to provide the specialized training necessary for careers in teaching, research, or the professions.

Thesis Masters

The Master of Science is a 32 semester-hour program requiring the development of a thesis. Typically, 18 hours of coursework will be taken in veterinary science, four hours will be credited for the thesis, and the other coursework will be in supporting fields of interest.

Non-thesis Masters

The Master of Science is a 36 semester-hour program. Typically, 4 courses will be taken from the core curriculum.

  • Must have GRE or professional school type test taken by application time.
  • 3.00 GPA for BIMS graduates, all others by appointment and approval.
  • "C" or better in VTPB 405 and BIMS/GENE 320, or equivalent.
  • Deadlines for application are March 1 for summer admission and July 1 for fall admission.
  • This is a non-stipend, non-fellowship program.
