Introduction to Microscopy
Light Microscopy
#78 (H&E) and #214(H&E): pancreas
For these two slices you just need to observe the tissues and get to be familiar with the microscope
Then try to see the difference between acidophilic and basophilic stain
Nucleous = basophilic – bluish color
Cytoplasm = acidophilic – pink color
#116 and #120
Need to be able to see neutrophile, blood cell, and granules
Large granule – not much (reddish purple)
Small granule- lot of them
#239
Be able to find blood cell in the human bone marrow
#252
Try to compare granule sides
Identify mitochondria (dark stain), basemen membrane (if you can)
#291
Large lipid droplet in seminiferous membrane
Electron Microscopy
EM 8f, 12a, 4c, 7, 6a
Comparing sides of membrane, mitochondria, ribosome by magnification and resolution
See trilaminar structure of lipid bilayer
EM 2b, 4a, 6, 7, 8, 18b
Know the difference when looking at difference types of microscopes ( EM, TEM, SEM, and Carbon replica TEM)
