Slide 12: Folliate papillae
Slide 14: Note filliform papillae, and fungiform papillae
Slide 18: Nothing specified
Slide 19: Note the three visible layers, the epidermis, dermis, and sub-dermis. Note how thin the epidermis is. Examine the slide at 4X. Find keratocytes, a basal layer, the stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, and the superficial stratum corneum.
Slide 21: Tarsal glands (modified/ large sebaceous gland) in eye lid. Study the transition between stratified squamous of outer skin and stratified/psuedo – stratified columnar epitheliulm containing goblet cells inside the eye lid at this 1 of 6 mucous cutaneous junctions of the body.
Slide 23: Circumvallate papillae
Slide 188: Note the three visible layers, the epidermis, dermis, and sub-dermis. Note how thin the epidermis is. Examine the slide at 4X. Find keratocytes, a basal layer, the stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, and the superficial stratum corneum.
Slide 230: Mammary glands
Slide 231: Mammary glands
Slide 241: Note that some regions are particularly void of appendages such as hair follicles on the sole of the feet. Contrast the rete pegs-dermal papillae interaction in slide 243. Note how thick the epidermis is. The stratum cornuem predominates.
Slide 242: Hairs, Contrast the rete pegs-dermal papillae ineraction in slide 243. Find vacularized dermal papillae, the arrector pili muscle, and sebaceous glands.
Slide 243: Note the three visible layers, the epidermis, dermis, and sub-dermis. Note how thin the epidermis is. Examine the slide at 4X. Find keratocytes, a basal layer, the stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, and the superficial stratum corneum. Find melanocytes, langerhans cells, the “spines” rep. Desmosomal attachments between keratinocytes, dermal macrophages containing melanin, and the basement membrane of the dermal epidermal junction. Look for rete pegs, dermal papillae, examine the dermis of the ventral surface. Columns of epithelial cells represent developoing sweat glands.
Slide 245: Stratified squamous epithelium
UT Demo slide 107: Study the fine structure of the melanocytes, especially their dendritic processes that extend among and between neiboring basal keratinocytes, Look at he dermal-epidermal junction. The “hills and valleys” represent rete pegs and dermal papillae.
UT Demo slide 108: Vascullarized dermal papillae, the arrector pili muscle, pilosebaceous units, and sebaceous glands.Electron Microscopy
EM 8G: Examine the ultrastructure features of the epidermis and the dermal- epidermal junction. Identify in the upper right hand corner the stratum corneum, and the papillary dermis and the dermal-epidermal junction in the lower right hand corner. Also examine the basal layer of the epidermis.
