Histology Class

Cell Structure III

Light Microscopy

Slides :
146: lipofuscin pigment
252: Observe secretory droplets, mitochondria
270: Dark black granules of different staining intensities in macrophages

Electron Microscopy

EM’s:
1: Shape of secretory droplets (compare with slide 252)
2: Nothing specified
2b: Cortical microfilaments, compare sizes, intermediate filaments (vimentin or keratin
types)
4: Brush border, lipid droplets (clustered), shape of secretory droplets
4b: Brush border
4c: Primary lysosomes
6a: Stabile and labile microtubules
6b: Cross- sectional and longitudinal sections of cilia and basal bodies. They have 9 pairs of
outer doublets and a central pair of a single microtubule.
6c: Cross - sectional and longitudinal sections of cilia and basal bodies. Notice that the outer
doublets, but not the central pair microtubules are continuous with microtubules
of the basal bodies.
8h: Macrophages contain many heterophagic vacuoles.
10c: Dendritic processes. (They have a high density of intermediate filaments in the
cytoplasm.)
10d: Neurofilaments can be seen in both myelinated and non-myelinated axons.
14: Shape of secretory droplets
19c: Long microtubules in cytoplasm of Sertoli cells, lipid droplets, and heterophagic
vacuoles.
20: Lipofuscin granules
24: Non- clustered lipid droplets
25: Crystalloid inclusions
