Transmission

Transmission occurs through contact with infected animals, infected animal products, fomites, people, vehicles, ingestion or inhalation of virus, and through semen or embryos.  Aerosol is the most common mode of transmission for FMDv and is the most difficult to control, as it has been documented to spread up to 60 miles.
