Control, and Biosecurity in Chile

In our process of learning about Chile and FMD, we investigated various governmental agencies, farms, auction sites, and border patrol rendezvous points.  This allowed us to see, at first hand, the overall process that Chile utilizes to help prevent an FMD outbreak.    

Chile’s FMD control program consists of three important facets: surveillance, control, and biosecurity.  These are implemented by Chile’s Agrarian and Livestock Service, Servicio Agricola y Ganadero (SAG), which is a unit of the Agriculture Ministry.
