The college seeks both (1) highly successful academicians with established records of excellence in biomedical research and/or clinical specialties, and (2) entry-level basic scientists or boarded/board eligible clinicians with interest and exceptional potential to develop competitive and highly productive programs in their fields. Successful candidates will have unique opportunities to collaborate with productive faculty teams sharing synergistic interests in select programs critical to veterinary medicine, biomedical research, and national interests. Professorial rank, tenure status, laboratory and/or clinical start-up support, teaching/research/service responsibilities, and personal compensation will be competitive and commensurate with level of career accomplishments and integration with signature groups. Expectations include creative plans for innovative contributions to any or all of the following: (1) enhancing overall student experience through academic excellence in the college’s undergraduate (BS in Biomedical Sciences), graduate (multiple MS and PhD degrees), professional (DVM), or specialized professional/graduate options (DVM-PhD, DVM-MBA) in our new Program for Executive Leadership in Veterinary Medicine; (2) helping develop novel and efficacious curricular approaches to undergraduate/graduate/professional education; (3) garnering renewable extramural funding for scholarly investigation, clinical service, or both; and (4) committing to increasing diversity in student/staff/faculty people and cultures. Emphasis will be placed on interdisciplinary teams and integrating basic and clinical sciences through interactions between the college’s basic and clinical research enterprise and Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. The hospital attends 18,000 patient visits per year with an annual budget of over $11 million, with college research funding exceeding $20 million per year.
