Faculty Positions in Radiology

The Department of Veterinary Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University invites applications for 2 full-time faculty positions in Radiology.  Requirements for the applicant include the DVM/VMD or equivalent degree and board certification or board-eligibility in the American College of Veterinary Radiology.  Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the State of Texas.

The radiology section in the Department of Large Animal Medicine and Surgery provides medical imaging services for small, large and exotic animals.  The case load is large, diverse and interesting.  The section consists of 5 ACVR board-certified faculty positions, 8 technologist positions, 2 secretary positions and a radiology staff supervisor position.  Texas A&M University has an ACVR approved active residency program.  State of the art equipment is available on site for digital radiography (AGFA ADC Compact Plus), helical computed tomography (GE Lightspeed Quadslice), digital  fluoroscopy, ultrasonography (Siemens Sequoia), nuclear scintigraphy  (IS2 Digital Camera, Post Processing Nuclear Mac 2005) and magnetic resonance (Mobile MRI:  Siemens Magnetom Expert, Impact 1.0T) imaging.  Radiation therapy is performed by a Cobalt 60 Teletherapy Unit Theratron 780.  All diagnostic images are stored on a PACS system (EKLIN DR Imaging systems EKLIN Pacs system).

The 2 positions available may be either clinical or tenure track at any academic rank.  The clinical coverage of the imaging service will be shared with other board-certified radiologist colleagues.  The majority of clinical activity time for each radiologist will be devoted to instruction and diagnostic imaging in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH).  The radiologist will supervise and aid veterinary students, house officers and faculty colleagues in the imaging diagnosis of diseases of patients admitted to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.  The radiologist will share with other radiologists in disseminating knowledge and mentorship of veterinary students, interns, and residents as these individuals develop their imaging skills.  The radiologist will team-teach in didactic lectures and laboratories related to imaging in the veterinary professional curriculum.  Numerous opportunities for collaborative research exist throughout the College and University The radiologist will have opportunity to provide leadership for development and introduction of new techniques and concepts that will enhance the quality and scope of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital’s patient care programs and the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University.  Each radiologist has the opportunity to provide and participate in continuing education presentations in state, national, and specialty meetings.
