Large Animal Ophthalmologist

The Department of Veterinary Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University invites applications for 2 full-time faculty positions in Radiology.  Requirements for the applicant include the DVM/VMD or equivalent degree and board certification or board-eligibility in the American College of Veterinary Radiology.  Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the State of Texas.

The radiology section in the DThe Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University, invites applications for a full-time Large Animal Ophthalmologist. The position could be either clinical or tenure track depending on the successful candidates professional backgrounds and career goals. The position could be filled at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree and meet requirements for licensure in the state of Texas. Board Certification by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) is preferred, however candidates that have completed qualifications for board eligibility or individuals with demonstrable experience and expertise in Large Animal Ophthalmology will be considered.

The Large Animal Ophthalmology service at Texas A&M University is intended to be a separate clinical service and student rotation. The current caseload consists of over 300 large animal (primarily equine) case admissions yearly, and with the horse and cattle numbers in Texas there is opportunity for growth. Collaboration with the established Small Animal Ophthalmology service is available. The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in further development of the Large Animal Ophthalmology service and contribute in a collaborative and collegial manner to the teaching, research and patient care missions of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
