The Department of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for two 12-month tenure-track faculty positions in the area of genomics at the Assistant or Associate Professor levels. We seek energetic individuals applying innovative genomic approaches to better understand the genetic bases of monogenic and complex traits, developmental patterns, and/or susceptibility to disease conditions. Position 1: Computational Genomicist: Applicants with strong skills and experience in computational analysis with emphasis on vertebrate or other higher eukaryote genomes are of particular interest. Position 2: Mammalian Genomicist: Applicants with an emphasis merging experimental and computational approaches to aspects of canine biology will be given highest priority, though applicants working with other domestic or companion animal models will be considered.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop and sustain vigorous extramurally funded research programs, and supervise graduate students in the Biomedical Sciences and Genetics Graduate Programs. The positions require a PhD degree, postdoctoral experience, and an accomplished record of publication. Opportunities exist to interact collaboratively with a large and expanding genomics and life science faculty within the College of Veterinary Medicine and across the broader University community, including the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and several interdisciplinary, degree-granting faculties and research programs in genomics and computational biology (e.g., The Faculty of Genetics; The Alliance for Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Systems Biology). Salary and start-up packages will be competitive and commensurate with levels of accomplishment. Modern laboratory and office space will be provided within the Veterinary Medical Research Complex, as will access to core facilities for next-generation sequencing and genotyping, and computational clusters on campus.
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until positions are filled. Applicants should send a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, statement of research and teaching interests, and the names of three potential referees, along with complete contact information to: Dr. William Murphy, Genomics Search Committee Chair, Department of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, VMA Bldg. Rm. 107, College Station, TX 77843-4458, or by email (preferred): dparks@cvm.tamu.edu
