The Surgery Section of the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is seeking applications for a tenure-track Food Animal surgeon. Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree and have completed a large animal surgery residency approved by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). Board-certification or eligibility for certification by the ACVS in large animal is required. Applicants must meet requirements for special (institutional) or regular licensure in Texas (ie, must be a graduate of an AVMA-accredited College of Veterinary Medicine).
The successful applicant’s major clinical responsibility will be to food animal surgery within the in-house Food Animal Medicine and Surgery Service. Other clinical responsibilities will include providing Emergency Service on a rotating basis with other Large Animal surgery faculty, didactic and laboratory teaching to professional veterinary students, and training of house officers. Additionally, the individual will be expected to become involved in collaborative and individual research endeavors and participate in committee assignments and administrative duties as assigned by the Department Head, or Section Chief. Applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills to ensure appropriate communication with clients, referring veterinarians, and in-hospital personnel.
