POSITION: Assistant Professor with an emphasis in the biology of pregnancy in mammals. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position with responsibilities for teaching, research and service.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop an extramurally-funded research program in the field of mammalian pregnancy including, but not limited to, fertilization, embryonic development, pregnancy recognition, implantation and placentation, parturition, immunology, nutrition, toxicology and genomics/epigenomics that is recognized nationally and internationally. The candidate will have the opportunity to join a multidisciplinary research team that integrates research in uterine biology, pregnancy and nutrition using a variety of in vivo models including domestic and laboratory animals and humans, to provide fundamental knowledge of pregnancy with translational impacts on fetal and neonatal growth and adult health and well-being.
REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. or D.V.M./Ph.D. in reproductive biology or closely related field, postdoctoral experience, and evidence of outstanding research and teaching potential is required. Training in molecular, cellular and physiological aspects of mammalian pregnancy and a basic understanding of systems biology and physiological genomics is required. A demonstrated desire and ability to teach and develop a strong program in graduate and undergraduate education is required. The ability to contribute to research involving a multidisciplinary team approach using domestic animal, rodent or human models is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be provided with a competitive salary, startup package, and laboratory with excellent shared equipment within Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and access to animal facilities operated by the Veterinary Medicine Research Park, the Department of Animal Science and Texas AgriLIFE Research. The candidate will have opportunities to interact and collaborate with a broad range of faculties across the Texas A&M campus that participate in the Interdisciplinary Faculty of Reproductive Biology, including individuals within multiple departments of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science, the Department of Animal Science, and departments within the Texas A&M University Health Sciences Center.
