SCAABP Mixed Animal Job Fair

Texas A&M SCAABP is proud to host:

The 3rd Annual Mixed Animal Job Fair

November 14th 2009

You are invited to attend the 3rd Annual Mixed Animal Job Fair hosted by the Texas A&M Student Chapter of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners.

The Mixed Animal Job Fair will be Saturday, November 14th from 7:30 am until 2pm at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

-Website: www.cvm.tamu.edu/scavma/scaabp/index.shtml/
-Online registration: www.cvm.tamu.edu/Externjob/JobFair.shtml
-Email: pmschmitt@cvm.tamu.edu

The Job Fair will take place at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 am in the common area outside the Dean’s Office, followed by two lectures for CE credit in Rm 201. Following the lectures, attendees will introduce themselves and their practices to students who are interested in becoming mixed animal practitioners. We hope these introductions will demonstrate the various opportunities available in mixed animal practice. Following introductions we will open the event up for individual conversations, giving students and practitioners ample time to visit. We will break at noon for a BBQ brisket lunch provided by Czech Tex Steakhouse The Texas A&M SCAABP officer team has come up with the following goals for this event:

  • CONNECT those students seeking employment in mixed animal practice with potential employers
  • BUILD relationships between students and practitioners that might lead to externships or employment in the future
  • ENHANCE communication between veterinary students and private practitioners about the opportunities in mixed rural practice.

We realize that one of the shortages in the veterinary profession is the availability of rural mixed animal veterinarians and hope, with your attendance, that we can expose more students to the opportunities available to a mixed animal veterinarian. Practitioners who are interested in attending the Job Fair are asked to provide a few specifics about their practice by completing our online registration at www.cvm.tamu.edu/Externjob/JobFair.shtml, or by downloading a paper copy here and faxing it to 979/847-8863. You may also contact Paul Schmitt at pmschmitt@cvm.tamu.edu for more information.

We hope that you are planning to attend this year’s Job Fair and encourage you to register your practice by November 1, 2009. Your information will be distributed to students prior to the event. We look forward to seeing you at the Third Annual Mixed Animal Job Fair. Thank you for participating in this event.

Sincerely,

Paul Schmitt
